Clues for Round Two: About the Town

Email your team name and answers to frsakowski@gmail.com

You have two hours for this part of the contest.

Click Here for a complete list of rules. Good luck!

1) Go to the place of 100 on the creek’s edge. You could jump it or watch for deer if you brought your bike – but there’s no time for that today. Instead, find the place for playing chess. What color is the table? [4 points]

2) Apparently there is an election coming up. So many signs. But can you find one endorsing the Libertarian candidate for President? If you find the right house on the corner, you may even find two of them. This one is hard, so we’ll give you a hint: it is within a quarter mile of the site of the former POW camp where German prisoners were kept during the great war. Find those signs and list the two streets that intersect there. [4 points]

3) Speaking of Libertarians, in the primaries this candidate’s colorful party rival won the vote in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is usually seen wearing a rather distinctive bit of headgear. Can you name that headgear? [1 point]

4) There is much water looming above, but none in the pool below. If you make your way around you will find a tan and brown box. What kind of objects rest inside? [5 points]

5) Find the sign promoting an A&W drive-in. What is the exact distance listed on the sign? [5 points]

6) Find Fuzzy’s field, now new and improved thanks to some generous benefactors. Name the two biggest donors. [2 points]

7) Go to the location of the top donor and find the corner of the building that faces the setting sun these days. What does the parking sign say? [2 points]

8) In need of an apothecary? This one is available day and night – but be careful not to linger more than an hour. Smile! You’re on camera. To the left of the rhinoceros you will find several movies being promoted, one of them from Pixar. Name that film. [2 points]

9) Not too far from the apothecary you might find a frog that eats birds. What words adorn the sign below? [4 points]

10) Beneath a black dog wearing a red scarf you will find a phone number. What is that number? [8 points]

11) If you ascend the Oak, you will pass the eleven flowers. But first you must stop and watch for children. Two things are forbidden in this place. What are they? [5 points]

12) Go to the golf that once was, and find the Master Plan. Barely more than a tap-in away you will find a sport being promoted. Name that sport. [4 points]

13) Find the twin flags flying, with a badge and blue bench beneath. Identify those two flags. [8 points]

14) Speaking of flags, find the place where flags go to retire. Name the Eagle Scout who made it all possible. [5 points]

15) We want to thank all the volunteers who have made these Fall Festivities possible. Speaking of Volunteers, can you find their flag flapping in the wind? Give the address number and street as your answer. [1 point]
