2021-2022 | Below you’ll find information and registration for faith formation programs at our parish this year! You’ll notice that just about everything that we do is family-based in some way. We believe that the student is the whole family. So our goal is to empower parents to be the primary catechists of their children, all while giving you just a few more “moments” to spend together as family.
Family Formation also includes preparation for First Confession & Communion (usually in 2nd grade). This occurs at the same time as Family Formation with additional retreats for parents and children to attend together throughout the year, as well as additional home lessons and sacramental prep activities for the weeks in between.
This year, all of our classes and small groups will take place in-person. We’ll keep an eye on the Diocese and local county health department, encourage masking for all in attendance, and continue to implement safety and sanitization procedures within our team so we can gather in a way that is safe, fun, and responsible!
Tuition is just $100 for the whole year, which includes unlimited kids (if you are unable to pay some or all, please don’t let that stop you from participating – register anyway!)
Here’s how Family Faith Formation works:
- Come to St. Mary’s once a month:
- 5:30pm | Daily Mass
- 6:00pm | Family Meal
- 6:30pm | Class Time
- 7:30pm | Dismiss!
- Go to Class. The kids enjoy their own grade-level classrooms while you, as parents, attend an adult-level class on the same topic:
- October: The Bible
- November: The Final Coming
- December: Divine Revelation
- January: Sacrament of Matrimony
- February The Papacy/Apostolic Succesion
- March: The Sacrament of Reconciliation
- April: Holy Week
- April #2: The Trinity
- Pick up your Home Activity Packet. Use the teaching notes, games, crafts and conversation prompts during your weekly family lessons in between monthly gatherings.
I get to learn, re-learn and reinforce the Catholic teachings for myself. (Seriously, I get as much out of it as my kids do). Doing the weekly lessons at home is a great way for our family to bond through learning together.
That’s it! The entire family learns about the same topic, each month, at their own, age-appropriate level. Enjoy connecting as a family with God and each other. Watch the video below to learn a little bit more.
